Man time!

Every Monday at the salon that I work at there are classes that the assistants are required to attend. The theme lately is for each stylist to pick something she would like to teach, and we take it from there.

Today we worked on men's cuts. I was stoked for this because quite honestly, I suck at cutting men's hair. It's the one thing they don't really teach you in hair school, and other than a "these are the clippers, you hold them like this" we never delved into men's hair cuts.

Another thing: you would think cutting a man's hair would be easy, right? WRONG. The shorter the cut, the easier to mess up, and I have made more than one mistake when cutting a male hair. The only two men I have experience in cutting are my brother, who has thick curly hair that hides mistakes well, and my boyfriend, who has stick straight hair, and every single snip is completely noticeable.

So today in class I wrangled my little brother up as my model, and FINALLY learned how to give a proper hair cut to a man. I was excited to finally have to know how to put it together, and the result? The best hair cut of my brother's life!
